Faroe Island: what an absolute treasure !
We spent a week driving and exploring the islands, but a week, I know now, was not quite enough.
Renting a car is the best option to get around and not be dependent on public transport.
Need to be said, it is pricy: a bit more than DKK 6000 for 7 days. But totally worth it.
Also, it was often raining so staying put in the car was great. Watch out for sheep along the way!
A good idea is to book accommodation , in our case, air b and b, well in advance. There are very few hotels and tourism is increasing.
Also, you will be travelling with the ferry quite a bit, so make sure you get to the ferry terminal at leaset 40 min prior to departure , cause they are small and often won't fit more than 17 cars. The earlier in the day, the better, you will avoid the masses hiking the most popular spots, and get some great photos with no tourists in it.
Ferry to Mykines must be booked well in advance online, but was cancelled on us due to bad weather, so the only Puffins I got to see, were on postcards!
